“One can paint a landscape not only realistically, but also with his/her heart.”

01 April - 26 April 2022

Although László Demko learned to draw and paint mostly in an autodidactic way, in his childhood and youth, he was "guided" by renowned artists such as Lajos Feld and Mikuláš Rogovský. Later, he attended numerous national and international art symposia and painting camps - almost 250 altogether! Even besides his technical profession, he continued to paint on a daily basis, although mostly on commission. Finally, after his retirement, he was able to give free rein to his own artistic desires. He paints mainly landscapes and still lifes, but figurative composition is also close to him. The nearly 40 of his works exhibited here reflect the artist's non-realist approach to nature. However, the pseudo or apparent landscapes capture our minds because they are like clouds in the sky: we always find something particular in them.

“One can paint a landscape not only realistically, but also with his/her heart. So, it's not about only the things perceived with your eyes, but also those seen with your heart,” says László Demko.

The exhibition is open to the public on weekdays from 10 am to 6 pm until 26 April at FiguratiF Gallery, 42 Alžbetina Street, Košice, Slovakia.
